Welcome to our family farm, where growing wholesome food and caring for the landscape go hand in hand.
Meet your farmers
G’day, we are Clayton & Krystal.
Our young family live in the picturesque Coolah area and run a mixed farming operation, which we manage holistically with regenerative farming practices.
We established Coolah Valley Pastured Eggs in 2020.
Our philosophy
We have a strong focus on restoring the natural functions in the landscape, to improve the health of the soil and to create a more sustainable farming future. We have a deep belief that the health of soils, plants, animals and humans are very much connected. We get great satisfaction growing better, more nutrient dense food and making it available and affordable for our local community.
Key aims that guide our decisions
✅ To work with nature not against it
✅ Provide nutritional food for our local communities
✅ Produce food that’s affordable and easily accessible
What sets our eggs apart?
Coolah Valley Pastured Eggs are laid by happy hens who have unrestricted access to the outdoors at all times. The hens are regularly moved around the property to fresh pasture which is managed holistically with regenerative farming practices.
The hens are open range (no cages or chicken fences!) with a very low stocking density of less than 200 hens per hectare. There’s plenty of room for everyone to exhibit natural behaviours and forage for grass and bugs.
We do not feed the hens any antibiotics and the flock do not receive any chemical treatments. We source our hens as pullets, but they begin their life outdoors on grass as chicks. They are not beak trimmed or wing clipped.
Their diet is supplemented by a grain mix which has been developed by a qualified nutritionalist. A majority of the grain we use is grown right here on farm, ensuring we know that it was grown with care for the environment and with no chemicals sprayed onto the crop.
Key takeaways:
✅ Very low stocking density
✅ Hens are outdoors and moved regularly
✅ No antibiotics or chemical treatments
✅ Chicks start life outdoors on grass from early age
✅ No beak trimming or wing clipping
✅ Grain used in supplement feed is grown regeneratively on our farm
✅ No artificial colourants in feed
